Douglas Stewart 1941

Australian artist Margaret Coen was known for her watercolours, paintings of flowers, landscapes and still-life works. Coen married Douglas Stewart in 1945.

Stewart was a poet, journalist, writer, editor and literary critic and had 11 books of poetry published. He was awarded an Order of the British Empire and an Order of Australia for his services to Australian Literature.

The Library holds the papers of both Coen and Stewart, as well as a portrait of Coen.
