Francis Howard Greenway / pencil portrait by unknown artistbetween 1814 and 1837

Plaque on frame reads “Francis Howard Greenway / Architect under Governor Macquarie / Presented by Mrs. E. C. [i.e. C. E. ?] Irving”.

Presented by Mrs. C. E. Irving (Francis Greenway’s granddaughter), 1948. The letter of acknowledgment says it is a self portrait – ML Pictures card catalogue

Lent to the Mitchell Library in 1922 by Mrs Caroline E. Irving of Chatswood, who promised to present it later. The portrait was donated to the Library in 1948.
