From the late 1870s to the 1930s, illuminated addresses were a popular way to commemorate special occasions and were given to recognize outstanding service. They featured beautiful calligraphy and ornate designs of native flora and fauna. Today’s decorative NSW birth certificates show how the illuminated address has evolved.
