To the Right Worshipful the Mayor, Aldermen, Councillors & Citizens this Map of the City of Sydney is most respectfully dedicated by their obed.t humble serv.t Will.m Henry Wells, Land Surveyor1843

by William Henry Wells

This is one of the earliest maps of Sydney published following its incorporation as a city in 1842. With north to the right, it shows boundaries of wards and parishes, streets, public buildings, and private residences. The eight large boundary stones that Governor Bourke had installed in 1833 to mark the boundaries of the town of Sydney are shown on the map.
