Seaside home – Gwen Plumb and Thelma Scott – Whale Beach 1 February 1951

By Jack Hickson

Gwen Plumb (1912–2002) was a Sydney-born performer of international renown. She is best known for her work on The Young Doctors, the short-lived Richmond Hill, The Harp in the South television miniseries, and the pilot episode of Home and Away. In Gwen’s own words, she worked across a variety of performance genres — everything, apparently, except circus!

Thelma Scott (1913–2006) was an Australian actor and radio performer whose career spanned six decades. She worked on some of the country’s best-loved early television and radio programs. Thelma is best known for her role in the radio show Blue Hills and in the television soap operas Number 96 and Richmond Hill.

A couple since the early 1940s, Gwen and Thelma remained partners until their deaths. They enjoyed a rich life of travel, entertaining friends and family, and spending time with their many pets.

These objects are part of the collection Gwen Plumb donated in 1997.
