Waratah Spring Festival procession, Sydney 1966

Seated on the City of Sydney's float, 1966 Waratah Princess Pamela Young acknowledges the crowd in College Street. The Waratah Spring Festival was Sydney's premier festival, first held in 1956 and popular in the 1960s. However, dwindling crowds saw is demise in 1974. The Waratah Princess was selected each year from among office workers having lunch in Hyde Park.
