Celebrations for the 200th anniversary of Cook’s arrival at Kamay (Botany Bay) were boycotted by Indigenous Australians in 1970. Their protest against white Australia’s official re-enactment ceremony was captured by a photographer from the Tribune newspaper. Join curator Ronald Briggs as he discusses the images which provide a visual account of this important and consequential act of defiance.
