In To Africa - Lecture 2. Karen Blixen
Join Susannah Fullerton OAM, as she journeys into the imaginations of three authors who were lured to the incomparable majesty of the African continent with her series IN TO AFRICA.
In 1913 Danish author Karen Blixen travelled to Kenya to marry her cousin and establish a coffee plantation. The marriage failed and the coffee barely grew, but the book that Blixen wrote, Out of Africa, became a classic. Her affection for the Kikuyu people and her love of the landscape shine through her memoir. When she was forced to return to Denmark, she felt she left a vital part of herself behind.
