Secret Librarian Tools
An overview of card catalogues, indexes, guides and other excellent research tools that are not available online.

Using Trove online newspapers and magazines
Trove provides free online access to over 21 million digitised pages from Australian newspapers as well as a growing collection of magazine articles. Find the best ways to search Trove for news items and articles to add historical context to your writing.

What can pictures bring to your research?
Every picture tells a story. This session will demonstrate how an image can provide inspiration and information for your bestseller.

Eresources for historical research
This session will highlight some of the best online databases for your historical research. Find out how to access these excellent resources for free using your Library card and get tips on how to search them to locate relevant primary sources.

Inspiration from the Collection
Many bestsellers have been inspired by the material from the Library's collections. This session will provide an opportunity to see some of the collections that have inspired authors including Patrick White, Kate Grenville and many more.

Getting the most of out the Library catalogue
Optional early session (9.15am-9.45am):
The Library catalogue is the best place to begin your research. We’ll show you some key searching tips to get you started and help you find what you’re looking for.
