This session covers the main benefits of using maps and introduces the Library’s map collection.
Mapping Indigenous history & culture
This session will look at maps, dating back to the earliest European explorations of Australia, which document the history and culture of Indigenous people.
Early maps of Sydney and New South Wales
Find out how to search for general maps of Sydney and NSW, and see the state’s gradual development through some fascinating maps.
County, town & parish maps
Learn how to use county, town and parish maps for historical research including how to track down the history of a parcel of land in NSW.
Plans of the city
Track the development of Sydney’s CBD through maps and plans from the Library’s collection, including insurance survey maps, mains maps, warehouse plans, and more.
Tour of the Map Rooms and the Maps of the Pacific Exhibition
A special tour of the recently opened Map Rooms as well as the Maps of the Pacific Exhibition.
