Building architecture is a complex process that requires courage, creativity, capacity of execution, knowledge, and expertise. Paola Stracchi will unravel micro-stories behind the construction of some of the icons of Australian Modern Architecture built in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory between 1960 and 1980. It will provide insight into how the NSW construction industry was able to keep up with and facilitate the implementation of the visionary architectural ideas and desires of the time.

Paolo Stracchi is an Architectural Engineer and Senior Lecturer in Architectural Technology at the University of Sydney. His research centres on the history of construction in the fields of architecture and building engineering, with a particular focus on the late modern to contemporary period. He is a lover of concrete architecture and ocean swimming.
