Queen Victoria was one of the longest reigning of all English monarchs. Her reign saw a flowering of literature, when the novel became accepted, easily available and hugely popular, when poetry sold in vast numbers and when writers were adored by the public. Queen Victoria was herself an author. She wrote a little novel when she was only ten, and her journals about life in the Highlands became bestsellers.
Discover what the Queen liked to read, and which author she read to her beloved Albert on his deathbed. What did she think of some of the feminist writers of the era, and which poets did she prefer?
