 With Dr Meredith Lake

From tattooed convicts to Aboriginal evangelists; unionists, artists, suffragists and wowsers, all kinds of Australians have had an opinion on the Bible. This talk will explore some of the surprising and dynamic consequences for culture and society.

Dr Meredith Lake is an historian interested in how Australians have understood the big questions of faith and meaning. An Honorary Associate of the Department of History, University of Sydney, her most recent book is The Bible in Australia: a cultural history (NewSouth Publishing 2018).
