Workshop with your favourite authors
10.30am - 11.15am
James Foley makes books for kids. He writes and illustrates the S.Tinker Inc series of junior graphic novels - including Brobot, Dungzilla and Gastronauts - and he drew the pictures for a creepily funny book called My Dead Bunny. His latest is a chapter book series called Toffle Towers, written by the wonderful Tim Harris, in which a 10-year-old boy inherits a hotel filled with ridiculous rooms and silly staff. Join James to hear how he wrote his first books in primary school, learn all about what makes Toffle Towers tick, and design your own wacky room to add to the hotel.

Rising star Amelia McInerney has had not one, but two books published this year! Join Amelia as she shares the delightful tales of Bad Crab and the Book Chook. This session is specially for 1- 8-year olds and there will be plenty of playful interaction to delight our youngest readers.

Josh, a student at Lawrence Hargraves School, has written a story called Oliver from Orange. Oliver From Orange tells the story of a young boy who was bullied because he has orange hair. Oliver dyes his hair in an attempt to 'fit in' but the bullying continues until Oliver accepts and celebrates his difference. Josh’s story has been picked up by the Department of Education and is used as an anti-bullying resource in schools.
We are delighted that Josh, along with his teachers will be joining us to share a story with a very important message.
1.45pm - 2.30pm
An award-winning author of seven, and illustrator of over twenty books, Christina loves that she makes up stories and colours in for a living. Awarded a CBCA Honour Book Award for her book, Kip, Christina has won numerous notable Book Awards and the Environment Award for Children’s Literature for her story, Welcome Home. Her latest book, One Careless Night, tells the poetic and sad story of the last known thylacine, encouraging us to consider how we can learn from the mistakes of our past.
