What are the penalties for possessing or supplying drugs?
In NSW, it is an offence to possess, use, produce or supply a drug which has been declared prohibited.
Prohibited drugs (and plants) are listed in the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985 (NSW).
They include the common street drugs —cannabis (marijuana), heroin, ecstasy, amphetamines, LSD, cocaine, methadone — and many others.
If you use, sell or give a prohibited drug to someone else and get caught, you could face substantial fines and penalties including a prison sentence.
