Invent your own transport kennings

Complete the activity sheet, available as a downloadable resource, by inventing kennings for the nouns that describe types of transport. In the blank spaces, list the types of transport shown in the images from the State Library collections and compose kennings to describe each one.

A good example of a kenning used in everyday language for a type of transport is “cherry picker”. This kenning describes a truck that has an extendable ladder for lifting people high in the air. Some of the types of transport listed may be unfamiliar so please ask other students or your teacher if you are unsure.
