Family Sunday: visiting the Library
You are coming to visit the State Library of NSW with your family for a fun time.
There will be lots of fun activities for you to do.
Lots of children and families are coming along.
It might be a little noisy.
When you get to the Library, you will see people in blue t-shirts – they are here to help you.
A helper will give you a booklet to tick off the activities you would like to do.
Your booklet will have a map of the building to help you find your way around.
We can also give you a coloured wristband to wear if you would like one.
This is the John B Fairfax Learning Centre.
You can visit at any time during the day.
This is a nice place to come to relax and make arts and crafts, play with toys or read books.
This is the Dixson Room.
You will hear real authors talk about their books.
Before and after the author talk, people will move around and it can be busy and noisy.
You can also do a tour of the Library.
Library staff will take you on an adventure around the building and tell you funny and interesting stories – they might even wear a funny hat or costume!
You can use the elevator or stairs to go upstairs.
During the tour, you can put your hand up if you want to ask a question about anything.
If you like art, you can do a special art workshop with an art teacher.
We will let you know where to meet the group.
If you want to be in a quiet place – you can go to the Children’s Library and find a quiet corner to rest and read a book.
When you have finished the activities you want to do, it is time to go home.
You can keep your checklist as a special memory of your visit.
We hope you have a fantastic day at the State Library of NSW!
