New prize category announced for 2023 NSW Premier's History Awards

The NSW Government has just announced that an exciting new prize category will be added to the 2023 NSW Premier's History Awards – the newly established Anzac Memorial Trustees Military History Prize valued at $10,000.

This prize recognises the important work of historians in recording and sharing the stories of Australian veterans, so that future generations will remember those who served.

Administered by the State Library of NSW, in association with Create NSW, the 2023 NSW Premier’s History Awards will now offer prizes in six categories with a total prize pool of $85,000.

  • Anzac Memorial Trustees Military History Prize
  • Australian History Prize
  • General History Prize
  • New South Wales Community and Regional History Prize
  • Young People’s History Prize
  • Digital History Prize

The prestigious NSW Premier’s History Awards were first presented in 1997 to honour distinguished achievement in history by Australian citizens and permanent residents. The awards celebrate the contribution of historical research to our culture and communities, and to humanity at large. They encourage everyone to appreciate and learn from the efforts of our historians.

Entries for the NSW Premier’s History Awards will open in February 2023.
