You asked, we delivered – keep your bags with you!

Students sitting at communal tables by the atrium in the reading roomWe have changed our policy so you can take your bag into more areas of the Library.
There are no bag restrictions for the Mitchell Library Reading Room (general reading area), the Verandah and parts of the Governor Marie Bashir Reading Room.
For areas where readers are using books and other material, conditions of entry still apply to ensure the safety of Library collections. We have however increased the size of bags allowed in Lower Ground 2 of the Governor Marie Bashir Reading Room to 30 x 35 x 30 cm in size (an increase from 25 × 35 × 10 cm).
These changes are part of recent improvements to the Governor Marie Bashir Reading Room and have been put in place following valuable feedback from our readers and visitors.
If you have a laptop bag that is larger than 30 x 35 x 30 cm you can ask Library security staff for assistance in applying for an exemption. We also have lockers available for hire if you have an extra-large bag or you are entering the Special Collections Area in the Mitchell Library Reading Room.
