Study rooms

Book one of these rooms when you want to study in a small group or on your own without being disturbed.

Study rooms are free to book if you have a Library card.

Location of the study rooms

There are five study rooms located in the Marie Bashir Reading Room. They're shown in the following table.

Booking a study room

You can book a study room:

  • for up to 2 hours per day
  • up to 2 weeks in advance.

The rooms are free to book if you have a Library card.

What you can bring into the study rooms

You'll need to be aware of what you can and can’t bring into these rooms.

Dalangilla ngurra (Lower Ground 1)

You can bring:

  • water and other drinks.

You can't bring:

  • collection materials.

Study rooms 1 to 4 (Lower Ground 2)

You can bring:

  • bags smaller than 30 cm x 35 cm x 30cm
  • large laptop bags – ask security staff to approve them when you arrive
  • books, magazines and other material – complete a form when you arrive.

You can't bring:

  • food and drink – this includes bottled water
  • bags larger than 30 cm x 35 cm x 30cm – store them in a free locker instead. Lockers are not large enough to accommodate most suitcases and luggage.

Using a study room

  • You must comply with the Reader and Visitor Code of Conduct.
  • Leave the room promptly when your booking has finished.
  • Make sure the room is neat and tidy at the end of your study session.
