Library history forum
A forum with a range of guest talks was held to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the NSW Library Act 1939.
Libraries for the People: the 11th Australian Library History Forum, was held on 18 and 19 November 2014 at the State Library of NSW.
To mark the 75th anniversary of the NSW Library Act 1939, the 2014 Forum focussed on the development of public libraries in Australia.
28 speakers from NSW, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and the ACT presented talks on a range of topics from the Munn-Pitt report of 1935 to the personalities behind the NSW Library Act, and from the development of library services in each state to the globalisation of the public library.
