Social impact of Tech Savvy Seniors

The Social Return on Investment Tech Savvy Seniors NSW CALD Report 2018 outlines the social impact of the Tech Savvy Seniors program for seniors from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The report was completed by Ernst & Young (EY) on behalf of Telstra and the NSW Government, in order to evaluate the social impact of the Tech Savvy Seniors NSW CALD program.

Overall, EY’s evaluation showed a social return on investment of $3.61 for every $1 invested in the program for the period of July 2016 to June 2017.  This highlights that the program is highly effective in supporting older people from CALD communities to increase their digital literacy and reflects the importance of digital literacy in today’s economy.

The report also found that the program had a positive impact on participants in the following six outcomes:
•    Increased independence
•    Increased use of online services
•    Enhanced social connectedness
•    Greater ability to pursue hobbies and interests
•    Increased self-esteem
•    Increased convenience.
