Maps of Sydney

Many maps record in detail the development of Sydney from 1788 to the present. These maps outline the physical changes and expansion of the city and inner city areas, and are in high demand by historians and researchers.

Many unique and significant maps of Sydney are held in the collections. These maps will be gradually digitised and made available online.

These maps show streets and buildings, their owners or occupiers, the building structures and materials, machinery in commercial usage, and fire protection facilities.

26 maps of bond stores and warehouses around Port Jackson and Darling Harbour. The goods entering into harbours remained in the bond stores until importers paid the duty on goods.

NSW Department of Lands, Parramatta series, 1895

Also known as the Parramatta detail series, this includes 68 maps of Parramatta surveyed preparatory to the connection of water supply to the area from the dam and pumping station situated at Hunt's Creek.
