Meet the creators of Incredibilia

Incredibilia features twenty books by celebrated children's author Libby Hathorn, adapted for the stage by acclaimed theatre-maker Kim Carpenter (of Theatre of Image) and set to music by Peter Kennard.

Author Libby Hathorn

Libby Hathorn is an award-winning author and poet of more than 80 books for children, young adults, and adult readers. Her recent picture book No! Never! written with her daughter Lisa Hathorn-Jarman, won the CBCA Children’s Picture Book of the Year Award, Younger Readers, 2021. 

Translated into several languages and adapted for both stage and screen, Libby’s work has won honours in Australia, the United States, Great Britain and Holland.

She is the recipient of many awards including the ABIA Pixie O’Harris Award 2022, and the Lady Cutler Award 2020, for distinguished services to Australian children’s literature. 

The major themes of Libby’s work are the rights of children and the importance of nurturing them in every way; the value of simple acts of kindness; and love and respect for the natural world.

Director Kim Carpenter

Kim Carpenter AM is a visual artist and a director/designer/creator. A visual storyteller, he was the founder and Artistic Director of Theatre of Image, which he led for 30 years. The company toured nationally and internationally (including Broadway, New York City). 

His other leadership roles include NIDA, Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and Nimrod (now Belvoir). 

He has created works for most drama, opera and ballet companies in Australia. 

His most recent works were Brett & Wendy … A Love Story Bound By Art for Sydney Festival in 2019 and The Happy Prince for The Australian Ballet in 2020 

After the closure of Theatre of Image in 2019 Kim has returned to his first love — painting and drawing. His most recent exhibitions were The Happy Prince 2020 and WILDE: Life and Fantasy 2022 at Maunsell Wickes at Barry Stern Galleries in Paddington.

Musician Peter Kennard

Peter is one of Australia’s most prolific and enduring theatre composers — a performer and studio-based producer with a career spanning near 30 years and over 100 professional productions - presented at multiple Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide festivals — with substantial touring throughout Europe, Asia and South America. 

His most significant credits include a 26-year association with Kim Carpenter’s Theatre of Image, two decades composing for Stalker Theatre, many productions for Q Theatre to name but a very few. 

He has had a parallel commercial career producing music for commercial applications and public events. He is now focused on composing and creating sound design for immersive digital media, AR and VR. 

 

 

Actor Manon Gunderson-Briggs

A graduate of AIM and NIDA, Manon was most recently seen as Janice in the Australian Tour of Come From Away (New Theatricals).  

Prior to that she played Gingy/Sugarplum in the Australian tour of Shrek The Musical (GFO). Previously, Manon played Joanie Heslop in the Australian tour of Muriel’s Wedding The Musical (Global Creatures). Manon made her professional debut originating the role of Cheryl and understudying Rhonda in the world premiere of Muriel’s Wedding The Musical (STC/Global Creatures). She appeared in the ABC documentary Making Muriel and can be heard in the show’s official cast recording. Her other credits include playing Hatchetface in the Sydney Theatre Award winning production of Cry Baby (LPD).

She is delighted to be a part of Incredibilia, and would like to thank Nicky Gluyas Management and her family for their ongoing support. 

 

Actor Fabio Jaconelli

Growing up in the town of Motherwell, on the banks of the river Clyde in Scotland, Fabio has always had a love for stories. An avid reader and cinema fan from an early age, Fabio discovered his love for acting during the tumultuous years following his move to Australia.

Training at Showfit musical theatre in Melbourne followed by a move to Sydney to attend NIDA, Fabio has many years of experience to his art and has since gone on to work in various short film projects and school tours with Echelon Entertainment.

Aside from acting, Fabio is a writer, painter and avid animal handler with many years of experience in each, a fitting collection of high investment interests for someone as passionate as him.
