Collection 28: Botanical drawings of Australian plants, ca. late eigtheenth century [Image view]1788-1810

G D38/1 - "Christmas bush" - is stylistically very similar to a drawing "The Cumberland Tree..." by an unknown artist, which is bound into a volume of 1790s Norfolk Island botanical illustrations : Dixson Library ref. DL PXX 1/39
Another version of DG D38/1 "Christmas bush" is in the Watling Collection (no.446), Natural History Museum, London
These drawings were purchased from the Longueville Collection, who purchased them in 1985, from a London dealer. The dealer acquired them from a Bonham's London auction in the late 1970s. It has not proved possible to trace provenance back further than this.
