Stories in the Sun

Stories in the Sun is a collection of reproduced illustrations from some of the most well-loved and iconic Australian picture books at the Library. The 1970s and 80s were a key period when Australian children’s book publishing flourished, often referred to as ‘the Golden Age’.

The Library holds important collections of original illustrations and personal papers from leading figures in children’s book publishing during this time. Almost 50 reproductions of these illustrations are on display on the Lower Ground of the Macquarie Street Building.
