Aboriginal language lists visit the Singleton Library
The State Library of NSW visited the Singleton Library on the 4 August 2014, to meet with members of the local Aboriginal community for a special viewing of Aboriginal word lists. The word lists relating to the local Wonnarua community, were touring the area as part of the Library’s Far Out!: Treasures to the Bush program.
The word lists that travelled to the Hunter Region belong to a collection of papers created by the Royal Anthropological Society of Australasia. They include survey forms and correspondence received regarding Aboriginal placenames, 1899 - 1903, 1921 - 1926.
