Located in the Marie Bashir Reading Room on Lower Ground 1 in the Macquarie Street building, wind your way through this maze-like space and get lost in the magic of books and stories.

The shelves are brimming with Australia’s best children’s books, as well as favourites from overseas authors.

Get comfy in one of the cozy reading nooks and explore new worlds. If you look up, you’ll see dozens of flying books just waiting to be written.

Visiting the Children's Library

  • Books are available for young readers up to 16-years-old.
  • Books must stay in the Children's Library.
  • You don't need a Library card to browse and read.
  • You can keep bags and prams with you.
